8 Ways Your Toddler is Actually a Better Person Than You Are

People always say that toddlers are just small people full of tantrums and dirty diapers, and as I am staring at my son on the floor crying over a cookie right now, I definitely agree.

Even though, yes the above stereotype is correct, I would also like to bring to light a positive picture of these nose pickers aside from crazy mood swings.  For example, in many ways, I believe toddlers are actually better than us adults. That’s right, I said it!  That we as adults can actually learn a trick or two from these mac and cheese addicts!

Here are 8 ways your toddler is an actually better person than you are:

No Fear

Till this day if I see a spider I scream like a little girl.  My son tries to pick them up to eat them. Safe to say we have a very different approach to spiders. Well, and bugs, heights, clowns, bees, lawn ornaments (I will stop there).  Toddlers are better than us because they have no fear! Jump off the bed, sure! Eat a cockroach, great! It is not until we are adults that we turn into pansies!

Passive Aggressive.. NOT!

As adults, we have a very odd way of communicating with each other that doesn’t really make sense.  Toddlers, on the other hand, will never tell you one thing but secretly mean another.  Their communication skills are much clearer than ours when it comes to getting their point across. You will never hear them say, “hey mom, I noticed you ate all my cheerios while I was sleeping. It’s cool. I guess you really like Cheerios!

No no – you’ll hear screaming with genuine anger from the other side of the world.

Codependent?

Even though yes, your toddler is practically the definition of codependent, that doesn’t mean they are by choice. If they had it their way, they would want to do everything themselves.  I do it I do it, is not a habit we keep when we get older. Our new go-to is, how can I get someone else to do it for me? They might be codependent but they are independently driven little poopers.

Enjoys Life

Toddlers are better than us because they are just freaking happy! They wake up happy and excited for the day (usually), giggle all the time and feel good about themselves.  We, on the other hand, wake up grumpy, tired and waiting for Friday to come around before we smile

Outspoken

Unlike trying to figure out why your partner is mad at you, there is no mind reading necessary with your toddler. You do not need to sit there guessing what they are thinking because oh boy, they will have already told you.  If they don’t want to eat something, it is made clear. They do not want to go to bed, ohhhh you’ll hear about it. We don’t speak our minds or stand up for ourselves as much as adults. Toddlers know what they want and are not afraid to show it!

Low Maintenance Appearance

We can take a note from toddlers on their maintenance level. My son has no problem walking around with one sock, a dirty diaper, and peanut butter in his hair, laughing to the sounds of mommy burning dinner.  Toddlers love their appearance when they look in the mirror. Not sure how many adults can say the same as they look in the mirror with their nose job and fake eyelashes.

Easily Amused

Remember when the littlest things used to make us happy? Like splashing in puddles or seeing a caterpillar?  Whether it is a funny face or seeing that show they love, toddlers really know how to bring the ordinary to life with their amusement. If only I was as amused with some of my Tinder dates! 😉

Confidence

Toddlers are basically little drunk people, right? So, of course, they fall down and fall down a LOT! But what happens after they hit the floor for the 30th time that day? They get right back up as if it never happened and move right on with their Baby Shark filled day.  As adults, we sit and moan and groan about life until we get sick of pity and try to move on. Toddlers possess a level of self-confidence that is borderline insane and something we could all learn from.

See why your toddler is better than you now? Maybe it is time to hire them as your life coach? 🙂
